As momentum builds for central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and other peer-to-peer payment models, those on the front line of such projects are managing myriad technology and business challenges. After all, a digital currency requires the support and engagement of a wide ecosystem of consumers, regulators and companies. Trust, transparency and security are both business and technology requirements. And what open source blockchain is helping to deliver in a growing number of projects. In this talk, Hyperledger’s Karen Ottoni will be joined by Makoto Takemiya of Soramitsu for an in-depth discussion of the Bakong retail payment project from the National Bank of Cambodia. The conversation will cover - Details on the business and tech drivers shaping this and other open source, blockchain-based projects like the Digital Dollar Project - The role of open source development in ensuring buy-in from key players and widespread access for end users - The value of transparency from the code level up to the transaction level
