Open source software is a fundamental aspect of how the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has served the public in its short history. In April of 2012, a few months after opening their doors, the CFPB released their source code policy, along with two open source projects. Just six days later, they accepted the first known open source pull request from a member of the public to a United States Government software project. Since 2012, the CFPB has continued to grow its open source program, including public contributions to software, openly developing regulatory tools, and standing up an innovative tech sprint program. Join panelists Adam Scott (Web Development Lead, Technology and Innovation), Jennifer Lassiter (Program Operations Lead, , Technology and Innovation), Eric Spy (HMDA Operations Lead, Technology and Innovation), and Timothy Lambert (Senior Counsel, Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity) as they share their experience standing up, maintaining, and evolving the Bureau’s open source program.
