For over a decade, Microsoft has been building cloud solutions using open source software often times collaborating with commercial partners and enterprise customers and by joining forces in open source project governance. Examples range from Linux to open source application and data platform and include OAM, SONiC, ONNX Runtime, Confidential Containers and SBoM. Are open collaboration and service provider's responsibility incompatible? How does a large cloud provider like Microsoft balance growing adoption of open source development models, end user expectations around support, security and reliability and its own developer- and partner-centric DNA? In this session, we'll cover the processes and strategic approach that we've implemented and our learnings in the journey.
