Historically not sharing information solidified one's career at a large Bank. Whether it meant controlling a particular technology, integration point and/or domain, it was beneficial to one's personal career to hoard information and work in "silos". Today the world is different. Open [Source] Software and the DevOps movement has shown the power of collaboration in uniting disparate groups and technologies together to increase reliability, resiliency, and time to market advantages. Previously when Enterprise Architecture (EA) blessed technologies from "top down", today new technologies are emerging from "bottom up" and internal communities are emerging at large Banks on these technologies. This talk will talk about how you help create and foster internal technology communities within large Banks using real-world examples from Red Hat with the historical context of existing 'Bank Culture', political and organizational challenges, and how to help create strategies to overcome.
